1st item: French boulle style tabletop book, music or missal stand. Comprised of hardwood or rosewood with inlaid reverse painted glass panels simulating tortoiseshell interspersed with brass medallions and brass lion masks to the corners, resting on bracket style feet, the whole with brass trim. 8" H x 15 3/4" W x 12 1/4" D. Late 19th/Early 20th century. 2nd item: English George III mahogany fitted knife box, with hinged tops, the interior with satinwood and ebony inlays, fitted interior, serpentine fronts and a molded serpentine base. 14" H x 9" W x 7" D. Late 18th/early 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Margaret Harold Roberts, Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition. 3 glass painted panels with breaks, losses to brass trim on feet. Both supports with old repairs and the hinges with replaced screws. 2nd item: Wood shrinkage throughout with areas of loss noted to front center and along the base, primarily to the front lid end and rear base edge.
