Tennessee cherry desk and bookcase, two part construction. Top section features a canted cornice over double paneled doors opening to two shelves, above a drop-front desk top revealing a fitted interior with dovetailed drawers and document compartments. Lower section has two short drawers over two hinged paneled doors, paneled sides, and ball-turned feet. Poplar secondary wood. Keys to desk and case included. Provenance: Descended through the family of Rev. Charles Carter, formerly of Knoxville, TN. 91 5/8" high x 43 1/2" wide x 23 1/2" deep. Circa 1840.
