Cheval mirror in the French taste, highly figured mahogany with flat cornice over a crest with applied gilt bronze swan decoration, finely cast ormolu mounted columns, tilting rectangular looking glass, curule form base. Back of mirror covered with pleated silk (possibly not original). French polished. 72 1/2"H x 38 1/2" W x 24" D. American, circa 1830. Provenance: estate of A. Welling LaGrone Jr., Nashville, Tenn., purchased from American Classical II, Nashville, Tennessee. Condition: Scattered areas of veneer loss to frame, some prior repairs, wear to ormolu, overall very good condition.
