Two large (2) Italian Majolica Istoriato faience chargers, including one (1) depicting Artemis, goddess of the hunt, her ladies, and her dogs overtaking a stag having lamb's tongue surround and border with grotesques, classical nudes, and mythological beats, marked with "M" to underside (23 3/8" dia.); and one (1) depicting three classical women and a cherub adorning a cow with a floral wreath in a seaside landscape with rope surround and border with grotesques, mythological beats, and cherubs (24 3/4" dia.). Both items late 19th/early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Both items with wall hangers affixed to undersides. Larger charger with minute flaw in the making to glaze measuring 1/8" dia. and minor fleabites to glaze of rim.
