Map with outline color engraved on laid paper, depicts a portion of the Southeastern region of the United States from the Appalachian mountains west to the Missouri and Arkansas rivers. Based on John Mitchell's highly detailed map drawn from the first available English and Indigenous surveys. (Mitchell's map is considered one of the most important maps of the 18th century). 12 14" x 16 1/2" image, 13" x 17 1/4" plate, 14 1/2" x 19 5/8" sheet. Provenance: The estate of Dr. Benjamin H.
