Helen Bullard Kreckniak (1902-1996, Ozone, Tennessee, working 1949-1982) folk art carved Nativity Set, 11 pieces, including Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, 3 wise men, a shepherd boy, 2 sheep, and manger. Also includes donkey initialed J.H.. Set won 1st Prize at the 1955 United Federation of Doll Clubs 6th Annual Exhibition and 2nd place at the 1959 United Federation of Doll Clubs, 10th Annual Exhibition. Dolls range in size from 4 1/4" H to 12 1/4" H. Biography: Mrs. Bullard carved wooden dolls by hand under the name "Holly Dolls". She served as President of the Federation of Doll Clubs and was Founder and President of the National Institute of American Doll Artists (NIADA); she also served as editor of the magazines of both these organizations. She authored Crafts and Craftsmen of Tennessee Mountains, American Doll Artists, American Doll Artists Volume II, Faith Wick, the Artist and Her Dolls, Dorothy Heizer, the Artists and Her Dolls, My People in Wood, and the update of the Cumberland County book.
