Eleven (11) Asian decorative items. 1st-6th items: Six (6) assorted carved Asian figures, including one (1) carved and polychrome painted seated scholar, three (3) carved and polychrome painted scholar figures depicted standing and all mounted onto one rectangular base, one (1) hardwood carved female head mounted onto a round wood base, and one (1) hardwood carved scholar depicted standing and holding a stick, mounted onto a hardwood base. Ranging in size: 3 7/8" H to 9" H. Ranging in age from late 19th to mid 20th century. 7th-8th items: Two (2) Chinese Export figural items, including one (1) turquoise or peacock glaze Buddha figure with gilt metal mounted base having peony and lotus decoration, accompanied by an associated pierced hardwood stand; and one (1) earthenware parrot. Buddha: 3 1/2" H x 3 7/8" W x 3 1/12" D. Parrot: 9 1/2" H x 3 3/8" W x 3 3/8" D. Late 19th to mid 20th century. 9th item: Small Buddhist carved lacquer travel shrine with Chinese characters and floral decoration on the exterior. The shrine opens to reveal a Gandhara-style Buddha, hands in the Abhaya Mudra, flanked by two Bodhisattvas on different panels, all surrounded by attendants. Open: 6" H x 8" W. Closed: 6" H x 3 1/2" W. Late 19th to mid 20th century. 10th item: Chinese or Thai giltwood standing Buddha figure, mounted in a wooden base. Figure: 6 3/4" H x 2 1/2" W. Overall with base: 8" H. 19th century. 11th item: Chinese Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) or Yuan style greyware pottery recumbent sheep figurine. 4" H x 6 1/2" W.
CONDITION: 1st-6th items:Largest figure with overall general wear and minor paint loss, loss to front central edge. Three small figures with general wear to paint, two with losses to objects in hands. Female head and scholar figure overall good condition with light wear. 7th-8th items: Some surface grime, crazing, and fleabites; bird exhibits losses to glaze, particularly at the base. Hardwood stand with repair to one foot and loss to rim. 9th item: Minute fleabites, wear, and patination. 10th item: Wear, areas of loss, largest 1 7/8" x 1/2". 11th item: Scattered areas of loss, firing flaws.
