2 Tea Caddies, 2 Quill Boxes, and 1 Pocket Barometer. 1st-2nd items: Two (2) English tea caddies, both with shell inlaid panels to the lid and front of the body, keyhole and locking mechanism, and internal compartments, including one (1) mahogany with three compartments and red-velvet lined lid; and one (1) burl walnut with line inlaid corners, two compartments, and red velvet to base. Both first half 19th century. 3rd-4th items: Two (2) circular porcupine quill and wooden containers, including one with lid and finial handle and one with inlaid bone circle decoration. 4 items ranging in size from 1 3/4" H x 6" dia. to 7 1/4" H x 12 1/8" W x 6 1/8" D. Late 19th/early 20th century. 5th item: Negretti and Zambra, London pocket barometer, serial number 2817, comprised of a silvered metal dial with scale notations to perimeter and two steel pointers, all housed under beveled glass in a round brass case. Maker's marks to dial. Includes a fitted square wooden case. Barometer: 6" H x 4 3/4" W. Case: 2 3/4" H x 5 3/4" square.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of David B. Person, Holly Springs, Mississippi.
CONDITION: 1st & 2nd items: Scattered splitting to wood and losses to veneer; warping of body and wear to interior of lid of smaller box. Lids to larger tea caddies may not be original. 3rd & 4th items: Overall good condition with scattered surface scratches and loss to lidded box measuring 7/8" H x 7/8" W. 5th item: Overall good condition with areas of tarnish to brass case and dial. Appears to be functional. Post and suspension ring are loose. Top of case is loose, 5" area of natural age shrinkage, staining to interior.
