Louis XV-XVI transitional style marble topped block-front commode with tulipwood veneers; conforming red marble top over parquetry inlaid body with concave sides and canted corners having gilt bronze column and swag mounts; two long dovetailed drawers with parquetry inlaid central panel, two wreath form circular gilt bronze pulls and cartouche escutcheons; a serpentine apron with foliate gilt mount; and cabriole legs ending in plain feet to back legs and sabots to front legs. 33 3/8" H x 31" W x 16" D. Continental, likely French, early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Scattered wear to veneer including slight warping, minor splitting, and losses, largest measuring 5/8" x 1". Areas of veneer have been repairs, largest measuring 2 3/4" x 1". The keys for the drawers are not present.
