Group of Civil War era albumen prints, CDVs, and a stereoscope of Union officers and two Presidents. 1st item: Autographed CDV of Major General Thomas, signed below image. Stamped on back Giers & Co., Nashville, Tenn., 4" x 2 1/2". 2nd-3rd items: Two CDVs, one of President Andrew Johnson and other a composite illustration view of President Lincoln surrounded by Union officers, 2-1/2" x 4" each. 4th item: Framed oval albumen print of President Andrew Johnson, seated in a chair, published by Giers & Co., Nashville, Tenn. with label verso, and 1976 newspaper articles taped to back of frame, 14" x 12" framed. 5th item: Albumen oval print of General U.S. Grant, 12" x 10" sheet. 6th item: Stereoview portrait of Lieut. Gen'l Ulysses S. Grant, published by E. & H. T. Anthony & Co., New York, #2965 Prominent Portraits, with 3 cent green Proprietary stamp on reverse, 4" x 7 1/2" framed. Provenance: the estate of Giers descendant Sarah Hunter Hicks Green, formerly of Historic Devon Farm, Nashville, Tennessee. CONDITION: 1st item: overall good condition with very small tear at lower right corner. Some toning to paper. 2nd-3rd items: President Johnson CDV with toning and surface grime and Lincoln group CDV with pin hole on mounting paper, some foxing and surface grime. 4th-5th items: Both with surface grime and stains to back. Abrasions to frame. 6th item: Surface grime and stains to image.
