Large Continental Overmantel or Trumeau mirror. Upper section with an oil on canvas landscape depicting multiple figures in the foreground; a villa, body of water, and structures on top of a rocky cliff mid-ground; and rolling hills and mountains in the background; all within a carved gilt rococo style surround. Lower section with mirror having gilt carved shell and reeded molded surround. Both sections mounted onto a large green painted wooden support having a gilt cornice and giltwood molded reserves at each side with rococo ornaments at top and carved gilt urns to the lower sections. 72" H x 47" W. Late 18th/early 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Barbara K. Lipman, Memphis, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Some overall grime, minute scattered losses, and craquelure to canvas. Mirror with some scattered losses to silvering. Frame with overall scattered general wear, heavier wear along the base. Back of mirror having contemporary corner supports at base.
