1st-4th items: Set of four (4) Continental Neoclassical side chairs, all with curved and corner-notched crest rails above a central splat with painted decoration depicting four Greek gods or goddesses, above a convex rush seat and turned legs. Deities depicted include Poseidon, Diana, Demeter, and Aphrodite. 35" H x 18 1/4" W x 15 1/4" D. 19th century. 5th-6th items: Pair of English Regency mahogany hall chairs, shield back form with painted heraldic Griffin decoration, rounded seats raised on tapering turned legs, terminating in spade feet. 35 1/2" H X 16" W X 17 1/2" D. 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Margaret Harold Roberts, Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
CONDITION: 1st-4th items: All in overall good condition with some light use wear to painted decoration. Seats are likely a replacement. 5th-6th items: General overall use wear. Losses to painted decoration. Wood shrinkage/cracks to tops of three legs where they connect to the back with pegs.
