American red painted slant front desk on stand, with red and black smoke decoration and painted black borders. Painted gold border on front apron. Legs pegged to case and square nail construction, one interior shelf. Old pencil inscription to inside margin of lid. Sometimes called a Schoolmaster's Desk. 35 1/4 x 35 x 18 3/4. 2nd quarter of the 19th century. Probably Mid Atlantic. Condition: Overall very good condition with wear to paint on edges.
