American Federal mahogany bowfront chest, likely New England, mahogany inlay, white pine secondary. Signed on the back “Thayer”. Slightly overhanging top with geometric step inlay above four graduated, banded, cockbeaded, and dovetailed figured mahogany drawers with oval brasses, inlaid band above the skirt, and highly splayed French front and back feet. 37 3/8 in. H x 41 1/4 in. W x 23 1/8 in. D. Circa 1800 – 1810.
CONDITION:
Older refinish with wear and minor losses around the top edge, some putty infill to the top. Scattered minor losses and repairs to the inlay along the top and base, replaced blocking segment behind front right foot. Case with minor scattered scratching and abrasions.
