Meiji period (1868-1912) Japanese silk embroidered floor screen. The folding screen consists of four ebonized hardwood sections, inset with embroidered silk panels depicting a mountain landscape lake scene. Three pagodas are nestled in the trees, on islands joined by a bridge. A single crane is depicted in the foreground. The lower parts of the hardwood sections are inlaid with mother of pearl and ivory flowers. 70-1/2" H x 109" W fully extended. Each embroidered panel measures 57-1/4" H x 24" W.
