Five (5) Tennessee land documents, signed by Governors Cannon, Carroll, Campbell, Aaron Brown, and Neil Brown. 1st item: Land grant for 4 1/2 acres in Perry County to Nathan Ward, dated 1836 and signed by Governor Newton Cannon, countersigned by Luke Lea, secretary. Very good condition with light toning, some small separations at fold lines, folds across both signatures. 2nd item: Land grant for 275 acres in Perry County to Nathan Ward, dated 1847 and signed by Governor Aaron Brown. Toning, edge chipping, tear along half of center horizonal fold line. 3rd item: 1895 handwritten copy of an 1834 Land grant, vignette of Tennessee State Capitol at top, for 63 acres in Maury County to Richard Jennings, dated 1834 and originally signed by Governor William Carroll. Very good condition with light toning and a few scattered small stains in lower left quadrant. Fold across signature. 4th item: Land grant on blue paper for 356 and 56/160 acres in Perry County to Nathan Ward and George A. Dabbs, dated 1853 and signed by Governor William B. Campbell. Poor condition with near total tear along horizontal fold line, some abrasions and chipping at edges and fold lines, fold crossing signature. 5th item: Half of a land grant (top half missing), retaining signature of Governor Neil Brown and dated 1848. Verso has inscription: "William L? McLain is entitled to the within mentioned tract or parcel of granted land – Will of M. Bransford JR. of West Tennessee" with 1849 certification of Registrar of Deeds John W. Ricketts. Separations at fold lines, considerable toning, fold across Brown's autograph, a couple of 1/2" stains. CONDITION: See item descriptions.
