Two 19th century samplers, possibly New Jersey. 1st item: House sampler, wool on linen, with house, triangular-shaped trees, birds, fruit basket, flowers, fruit trees and diamond repeating border. Sight: 15 1/8" H x 12 1/2" W, Fruitwood frame: 18" H x 15 1/2" W. Mid-19th century. 2nd item: Floral sampler, wool on linen, with central floral wreath, fruit baskets, birds on branches, floral spray on anchor, harp.and strawberry vine border. Signed "Louisa C. Miller aged 13 yrs". Sight: 23 1/2" H x 24 3/4" W, Stained wooden frame with gilt liner: 25 1/2" H x 29 5/8" H. Mid-19th century. Condition: 1st item: Image in very good condition. Scattered toning to canvas and small scratches on frame. Surface grime on glass. 2nd item: Image in very good condition. Overall toning and stains to canvas. Small holes, mostly in border, largest is 3/8" L.
