Governor of Tennessee James K. Polk (1795-1849) signed land document, granting William Lee "one hundred and sixty acres, lying in the Hiwassee District, situate in the third township, range second East of the meridian, thirty-two section, and the North West of said section: Beginning at the North West corner of said quarter, with its appurtenances" dated May 25, 1840. Housed in a wooden frame. Sheet – 16 1/8" H x 12 3/4" W. Framed – 23 1/2" H x 20 1/4" W. Provenance: Private Knox County, TN collection. CONDITION: Overall good condition. Polk signature very strong and clear. Toning, dampstaining, minute foxing spots, around edges of sheet and fold lines. Tears, largest 2", along center and top left fold lines.
