New England Chippendale mahogany bowfront chest of drawers, attributed to Massachusetts, white pine secondary. Consisting of an overhanging molded and shaped top above four graduated dovetailed and cockbeaded bowfront drawers fitted with willow brasses and resting on a molded base with ogee bracket feet. 32 1/8" H x 43 1/4" W x 23 1/4" D. New England, late 18th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Middle Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Older refinish, brasses are likely replacements. Lower third of rear right foot facing replaced, old patch to a section of the base molding on the left side. Missing glue block on rear right foot with modern wooden strip reinforcing right foot back side. Some modern screws applied on the underside to reinforce feet. Scattered light staining and wear to top.
