American, likely Pennsylvania, walnut tavern table with poplar secondary. Plain overhanging rectangular top over three long dovetailed drawers with wooden pulls, lapped edges with scratch beading, all on tapering turned legs with squared spike feet. Feet connected by turned stretchers. 29″ H x 60″ L x 36 1/2″ D. Late 18th/early 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Purchased directly from the Diffenbaugh (Defibaugh) family home in Bedford, Pa., 18th-19th C. gunmakers. By oral history, the table descended in that family.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with expected use wear and minor losses commensurate with age. Top with minor stains and scratching, wear to sides of top and stretchers. Refinished and waxed surface.
