American Federal two-drawer work table, mahogany, white pine, and poplar. Finely figured, slightly overhanging mahogany top over two figured and finely dovetailed drawers, each with fitted interior, brass keyhole, and original brass medallion knobs. The drawers are flanked by reeded stiles and rests atop four ring-turned and tapered reeded legs, ending in horizontally reeded and turned feet with brass casters. 28 1/2"H x 17 1/2"W x 17 1/4"D. Possibly New York, circa 1815.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Judge John Nixon, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall excellent condition, refinished. A few small and well done veneer patches and repairs to edge of top. One rear corner has a 1/2" gouge and 1" shrinkage crack. Shrinkage to interior drawer bottoms. Lower drawer with remains of old pest damage to drawer bottom.
