Vincent Clare (United Kingdom, England, 1855-1930) oil on canvas naturalistic still life painting depicting a group of fruit including apples and peaches, situated on the ground and surrounded by foliage. Signed "Vincent Clare" lower right. Old paper label reading "859" en verso of stretcher. Housed in a Rococo-style giltwood frame. Sight: 8 5/8" H x 11 5/8" W. Framed: 15 1/4" H x 18 1/8" W. Note: Vincent Clare was born in Birmingham, England, the son artist George Clare. The Clare family specialized in still life and flower paintings, and some of Vincent Clare's work was also used for advertising through postcards and posters.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Light craquelure. Frame with very minor abrasions, areas of natural age shrinkage. Canvas is lined.
