New England, possibly Massachusetts, Hepplewhite sofa. Consisting of a serpentine-shaped molded mahogany frame with cabriole arms, over four front square tapered legs, the outer two with inlay, and four rear splayed legs, all terminating into brass castors. Upholstered with striped blue and gold damask. 39 3/4" H x 74 1/4" W x 23 1/2" D. Late 18th/Early 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Judge John Nixon, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Serpentine crest rail with possible old repairs. The upholstery with scattered staining and losses to the right seat side. Underside bracing with old and newer repairs and reinforcement.
