Antoine Blanchard (French, 1910-1988) oil on canvas Impressionist Parisian street scene painting set along the Grands Boulevard in the early 20th century. Figures walk along the busy sidewalk while horse-drawn carriages navigate the roadway. Housed in a giltwood frame with tan textile mat and giltwood fillet. With inscription en verso, likely in the artist's hand, reading "Grands Boulevard / Paris / Antoine Blanchard" along with Antoine Blanchard stamp. This painting is accompanied by a 1973 artist's certificate of authenticity signed by Blanchard, plus a 1973 W. T. Burger & Co., La Porte, Indiana certificate of authenticity with documentation of Les Enfants Art Gallery, New Orleans, provenance, plus old biographical statement, all available to the winning bidder. Sight: 12 1/4" H x 17 1/4" W. Frame: 21 1/4" H x 26 3/8" W. Biography: Antoine Blanchard began his study of fine arts in Rennes for three years and then studied at the School of Fine Arts in Paris for four years. He exclusively painted Parisian street scenes, depicting the city in all seasons but always in 1900.
