American walnut secretary, comprised of two sections. Top section comprised of walnut with steeple cornice in the baroque taste, elaborate fitted block front interior. Base comprised of walnut primary, pine and poplar secondary, with slant drop front having a fitted interior over four graduated dovetailed drawers, resting on bracket feet. Several hidden compartments in top section. Top and bottom possibly associated. 92-1/2" Total H x 41-1/8" W x 21-1/2" D. 2nd quarter of 19th century. Found in St. Louis, Missouri. Condition: Old refinish. Repair to left door of top with some age cracks noted to both doors.
