Utagawa Hiroshige (Japan, 1797-1858) horizontal oban woodblock print entitled Tsuchiyama: The Suzuka Mountains in the Rain (Tsuchiyama, Suzukayama uchu no zu) from the series Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido Road (Gyosho Tokaido), published c. 1841-44. With Hama censor seal, lower center. Sakai Co., Ltd., Yokohama label affixed to backing. Housed under glass in a rusticated painted and giltwood frame with cream mat. Sight: 7 1/2 in H x 12 in. W. Framed: 14 1/2 in. H x 20 1/2 in W. Mid-19th century. Note: A copy of the 1966 M. Nakazawa, Tokyo, purchase receipt signed by T. Saka is available to the winning bidder. The presence of the Sakai Co., Ltd. label affixed to the backing suggests that the print may have previously been sold by T. Sakai.

CONDITION: Overall very good condition, not examined out of frame. Frame with minor abrasions and losses.
