Three (3) Chinese silk embroidery panels including two framed panels with “forbidden stitch” decoration, one that depicts a dragon and one that depicts flowers and precious objects, and one two-part banner with depictions of a bird and dragon. Framed embroideries housed under glass in giltwood frames with black mounts. Banner mounted to ebonized wood baton. Framed sizes: 22 in. H x 19 in. W (dragon); 27 1/4 in. H x 24 in. W (precious objects). Banner: 27 in. H x 19 3/4 in. W. All first half of 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Dr. Allen E. Johnson.
CONDITION: Framed items in overall very good condition. With minor abrasions and losses to frame of embroidery of precious objects, primarily to corners. Banner with fading, especially to black border, plus minor, localized loosening to threads throughout.
