Very Large Middle Tennessee split white oak rectangular form buttocks basket by Mary M. Davis (Cannon County, TN. 1928-2014). Ribbed construction with tightly woven wearers, a wide woven rim, and fixed handle, signed on the center inner rim. Additionally inscribed to interior base center "Mrs. Mary M. Davis 1986 Woodbury, TN I-1976. 335 East Main St. 37190. Took from 260 to 300 hours to make this basket." 21" H x 19" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Donley and Eunice Hill, Andersonville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall excellent condition with light surface grime and very light wear to weavers.
