Otto (Banz) Botto (New York/New Jersey/Switzerland, 1903-1968) oil on board abstract cubist style painting titled "Sail Boats" depicting a sailboat rendered in shade of blue, green, yellow, pink, red cream, brown, and grey. Signed "O. Botto" lower left. Titled with artist's name and additional information, ink inscription reading "To Evansville Museum of Art & Science…Evansville/Indiana 47713" en verso. Flat mounted on off white linen in a wooden frame with gilt trim. Board – 12 1/2" H x 17 1/2" W. Framed – 19 1/8" H x 24 1/4" W. Early/mid 20th century. Provenance: The Estate of Mrs. Frank Wood, Evansville, Indiana and Dickson, Tennessee. CONDITION: Overall good condition with areas of paint loss, largest 1 1/4", to edges of board. Foxing spots, dampstaining to linen.
