Central Kentucky Sheraton cherry and poplar sugar chest. Rectangular top with ogee molded edge above a conforming case with kite inlaid escutcheon and reeded stiles, two dovetailed drawers with brass pulls, all resting on turned and reeded legs. 34 1/4" H x 35 1/4" W x 19 1/4" D. Circa 1825.
PROVENANCE: Mark Anthony Grant Estate, Clarksville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Older refinish with some shrinkage to sides of case. Replaced hinges with backboard having an approximately 1 1/2" strip replaced. Escutcheon replaced with shadow line of larger old escutcheon. Drawers with scattered insect damage. The strip on the bottom of case between the drawers has been replaced.
