Late 19th Century Art Nouveau silk embroidered print depicting “Lalla Rookh” in an ornate gown, hand embellished with metallic gold threads, pearls, and faux jewels, on a black background. Engraved tag on the frame attributes the handiwork to Katie E. Boettner, with the date of 1882. Note: Lalla Rookh was the titular, fictional character of a romantic Orientalist poem by Thomas Moore, published in 1817. Housed under glass in a parcel gilt and ebonized frame with gold gold-encrusted mat. Sight: 23 in. H x 14 in. W. Frame: 33 in. H x 24 in. W.
