A collection of 3 Asian carved nuts or seed pits, 2 with floral/nature designs, the third hollow with intricately carved boat design including many human figures, with extensive writing on the underside. Housed in a miniature footed case withglass sides and top and silk covering. Condition: some disintegration to silk covering on case, nut carvings in excellent condition with a pair of doors missing on one side of boat. Nuts 1 5/8" L, case 2 1/4"H. Probably Chinese, circa 1900.Provenance: Collected by George and Charles Mitchell (co-owners of Mitchell's Candy Store, Nashville) during the course of several trips to China and Japan in the late 19th-early 20th century.
