Rare Historical Staffordshire black and white glazed earthenware plate with transfer print scene depicting the Episcopal Theological Seminary, Lexington, Kentucky. Plate titled below the scene. 9" dia. Circa mid-1830s. Provenance: the Estate of Lynn Scholl Renau, Louisville, Kentucky. Note: "This plate depicts a view of the Thomas January house on Second Street in Lexington, Kentucky where the seminary was located from 1834 until 1838. Due to the short tenure of the seminary, production of this plate was limited and likely was never widely marketed". (Research courtesy Clifton Anderson Antiques).
