Ivory Okimono, finely carved figure of a farmer with rake in his hand and basket on his back. Signed on base. 5-1/8"H. Chinese or Japanese, circa 1900. Provenance: purchased by George Mitchell (co-owner of Mitchell's Candy Store, Nashville) during the course of several trips to China and Japan in the late 19th-early 20th century. Mitchell estate. Condition: Fine age splits to head and basket, small dark spot to head.
