Framed Royal Vienna porcelain plate of the Duchess of Devonshire (1757-1806) with cobalt blue and celadon green ground, gilded floral motif with silvered accents housed in a round, Florentine, ornately carved, pierced giltwood frame of a foliage design. On the underside of the plate is the Royal Vienna Bindenschild mark and the following markings: "Dec: 171/Depose/ 4094 36.a." A signature has been partially gilded over near the sitter's rose. Framed: 17-1/2" x 17-1/2" Sight: 9-1/2" x 9-1/2". Condition: Frame has lost two pieces of its foliage, with areas of chipping of gilding and wood, in particular on the left side of the frame. Noticeable cracks in gilding at the top of the frame with evidence of one repaired crack.
