Exhibited American Crazy Quilt, pieced and embroidered, featuring primarily solid colored silks, cotton, and velvets with a few stripes and plaids. Multicolored embroidered original designs, including flowers, birds, fish, hearts, a peacock at the center, two flowering pots, and leafy branches. 74 1/2 in. x 66 3/4 in. Circa 1900. Note: This is one of two quilts in this auction from the collection of the late Linda Felts of Memphis, which was featured in the “Pieced & Patterned” exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Florida, from September 18, 2021, to January 23, 2022.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Linda Felts, Memphis, TN.
CONDITION: Mounted onto a hinged board with hardware for hanging. Some deterioration to fabrics, primarily to the silks. Minor wear to embroidered designs.
