Covered creamware basket and underplate, lozenge form, with figural finial. The basket has two handles and molded sides with an all over flower or star design inside an oblong hexagon, a pattern that repeats on the underplate in an elongated design. The cover repeats the design of the tray but is pierced and is topped with a figural knob of a child reaching into a basket of fruit. Unmarked. Underplate 10-3/4" x 9", overall height with underplate 6-3/4"H. Probably Continental, early 19th century. Provenance: the estate of Margaret Wemyss Connor, Nashville, Tennessee. Condition: Scattered small flakes and fleabites, possible repair to figural head, 1/2" hairline to lid.
