Middle Tennessee or Kentucky cherry sugar chest, poplar secondary. Post and panel construction, large rectangular form with partially hinged top opening to an interior with original divider and reinforced wooden well, the case with paneled sides and one lower dovetailed drawer with cherry cross-banded veneer border, wooden pulls, all resting on turned Sheraton feet. 38 1/8" H x 36 1/4" W x 18 7/8" D. Circa 1835.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Donley and Eunice Hill, Andersonville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Refinished surface and interior. Approximate 1/2" wood strip added to the top of the front case. Wood shrinkage to front of case, original escutcheon hole with infill. Some putty infill to the top and light wear.
