Joe Chris Robertson (American, 1922-2000) oil on canvas cubist painting titled "Junk Heap" depicting a fragmented view of dismantled cars in shades of red, yellow, green, brown, grey, off white, and black, beneath a flat grey sky. Unsigned. Housed in an off white painted wooden frame. Sight – 30" H x 42" W. Framed – 31" H x 43" W. Circa 1958. Provenance: Deaccessioned from the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. Biography: Joe Chris Robertson was a painter and print maker and chaired the Art Department at Mars Hill College in North Carolina for over 40 years. His work is in permanent public collections at the University of Arkansas, the University of Iowa, Arkansas State Gallery, Delgado Gallery in New Orleans, the Asheville Art Museum, Mars Hill College, and the Black Mountain Center.
