After John James Audubon (American, 1785-1851), Pinnated Grous, Tetrao Cupido, No. 4-1, Plate 296, chromolithograph by J. Bien, New York, 1860, 23-1/2" x 35-1/4" image, 25" x 36" sight, 36" x 46" framed. Harry Gallaway New York gallery label en verso with brief note stating authenticity, dated 1955. Provenance: descended in the family of Josephus "Jo" Conn Guild of Chattanooga, TN (1887-1969). Condition: Appears to be laid down on board, matting also affixed to margins of the front of chromolithograph, 1/2" tear to sky, upper left quadrant; couple of small edge creases, scattered foxing, tiny puncture to bottom margin, scattered small spots of exfoliation most noticeably in a 1" line between birds and 1/4" area in one bird's feathers. Light toning.
