Chotscho : Koeniglich Preussische Turfan-Expeditionen by Albert von Le Coq (Prussian/German, 1860-1930), Berlin: Dietrich Reimer (Ernst Vohsen), 1913. Complete folio with forty-five (45) color plates and thirty (30) black and white plates, plus various other illustrations. 24" H x 19 3/4" W x 2" D. Note: This item is the rare, original book that records the first German Turfan/Turpan expedition at Gaochang (here called Chotscho), the Bezeklik Caves, and the Toyuk Caves and documents Buddhist art and culture including paintings and statuary. Only a few extant copies are known.
CONDITION: Missing the back board and spine board but with detached spine cloth. Damp staining to pages plus waviness or bowing and edge wear. Otherwise good condition, with complete pagination.
