1st item: Chinese Shanxi Style red lacquer and gilt decorated cabinet. Rectangular form consisting of a plain top over two doors that enclose two shelves and a molded flat base. The top, front and sides with all-over scenic figural landscape depicting figures engaging in various activities. Iron carrying hardware to each side. 34 3/4" H x 34 3/8" W X 18" D. 20th century or earlier. 2nd item: Chinese red lacquered wood storage box, oval form with flaring handles and sliding lid. Lid with export seal. 12" H x 17 1/2" W x 10 1/2" D. late 19th/early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Margaret Ann O'Shaughnessy, Memphis, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition with general wear scattered minor losses. Right door with replaced contemporary hinges. 2nd item: Overall good condition with scattered expected use wear and losses.
