William Simpkins (Boston, 1704-1780) silver tankard, marked on side "W. Simpkins" in cartouche. Cylindrical shape with cross banding along center and banding on base. Domed top with shaped finial, shell thumbpiece, scroll handle ending with mask escutcheon. Block monogram "RTR". Tankard later converted to pitcher, obscuring an armorial engraving. 28.545 oz troy. 8 3/4" H. Circa 1770. Condition: Modification to tankard body by the later addition of a spout.
