1st-3rd items: Three (3) octagonal armorial plates bearing the arms of Yelverton Earl of Essex with motto FOY EN TOUT surrounded by gilt chain and foliate sprays to rim. One with sticker label affixed to underside. 9 1/8" dia. Circa 1760. Note: An example of this Chinese Export armorial plate can be found on page 534 of CHINESE ARMORIAL PORCELAIN, by David Sanctuary Howard, published by Heirloom & Howard Limited, England, 2003. 4th-5th items: Two (2) scalloped armorial plates bearing the arms of Gordon quartering Badenoch and Fraser with motto DUM SISTO VIGLIO surrounded by gilt wave design and blue and white foliate rim. 9 1/2" dia. Circa 1770-1785.
PROVENANCE: The Tina McWhorter Trust; from the collection of John and Tina McWhorter, Memphis, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st-3rd items: All with minute scattered surface residue. One plate with old staple repairs with corresponding hairlines to rim, hairline to well measuring approximately 6" L, and wear to polychrome decoration. 4th-5th items: Both with minor surface wear, including one with area of loss to glaze measuring 1/8" dia.
