Two (2) Vintage Music Festival Posters. 1st item: 1969 Atlanta International Pop Festival advertising poster. The event was held at the Atlanta International Raceway just a month before the better known Woodstock Festival, and featured performances from Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad, Chicago Transit Authority, Chuck Berry, Blood Sweat and Tears, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Johnny Rivers and others. Unframed. 22" H x 28" W. 2nd item: 1971 poster advertising the disastrous "Celebration of Life" music festival, June 21 through 28, 1971, "150 miles north of New Orleans." Depicts two peacocks perched atop a flower-filled goblet with a peace symbol. Musical acts advertised include: The Allman Brothers, Alex Taylor, Amboy Dukes, B.B. King, Ballinjack, the Beach Boys, Bloodrock, Boz Scaggs, Buddy Miles, Butterfield Blues Band, Canned Heat, Chambers Brothers, Chuck Berry, Country Joe McDonald, Delaney, Bonnie, and Friends, Dixieland Jazz Bands, Edgar Winter's White Trash, Eric Burdon, Flying Burrito Brothers, Ike and Tina Turner Review, It's a Beautiful Day, James Gang, John Hartford, John B. Sebastian, John Lee Hooker, Johnny Winter, Leon Russell, Melanie, Quicksilver Messanger Service, Ravi Shankar, Richie Havens, Roland Kirk, Seatrain, Sly and the Family Stone, Symphony Orchestra, Voices of Harlem, War, and more. Poster originally made in May, 1971. Ironically, many of the promoted acts never took the stage. The festival, conceived as a Southern "Woodstock," was plagued by scheduling problems, delays, insufficient food, water and shelter, and at least four deaths (including the impalement of a stagehand setting up the event and 3 drownings in the nearby Atchafalaya River). Poster housed in a contemporary black metal frame. Sight – 27 1/4" H x 21 3/4" W. Framed – 33 1/4" H x 27 1/4" W. CONDITION: 1st item: Overall crinkling to paper, a couple of edge tears to left and right margins. 2nd item: Overall crinkling and wear to paper, chipping to upper left margin, staining and losses to lower margin. Pinpricks to all corners. Unframed.
