19th century brass bound writing box on later stand. Writing box has figured mahogany veneer with ebonized outer band and brass bound edges, with inlaid brass leaf patera on top and at escutcheon. Fitted interior with green tooled leather writing surface. English, circa 1840. Box 7"H (22" including stand) x 20" L x 10"D. Provenance: Collection of Joe Cashia, Meeting of the Waters, Franklin, Tennesssee. Condition: Some age cracks to wood of top with some old repairs to one side of top.
