1st item: French Napoleon III parquetry jardiniere cachepot. Mahogany veneer wooden planter in oblong, quatrefoil shape with scrolling foliate brass mounts, including two handles and a pierced trim; two sides with polychrome painted porcelain inserts, one depicting a bird on a flowering branch and one depicting a floral spray, possibly Dresden; and terminating in round feet. Does not include interior liner. 6 1/2" H x 15" W x 9 1/2" D. 2nd item: Louis XV style miniature curio cabinet with canted front corners, comprised of mixed woods with ormolu brass mounts, having an inlaid brown stone conforming top over a glass door with a quatrefoil shaped keyhole escutcheon and surrounded by diapered parquetry decoration, two glass panels to either side, light brown velvet-lined interior with one shelf, terminating in bracket rear feet and front feet with pierced sabots. Includes key. 17 3/8" H x 10 1/4" W x 8 1/2" D. Both items 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Peggy Lambert, Maryville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Both items with natural age shrinkage. 1st item: 6 1/2" x 1/4" area of repair, surface grime, to interior base, lifting/separation to brass mounts. Porcelain inserts with hairlines, largest 2 1/4". 2nd item: Areas of loss, largest 1/8" x 3/4", to wood, flaws in the making to glass panels. Some brass mounting are loose.
