Edo period Kano School scroll painting on silk, depicting Mount Fuji with red blooming foliage near base. Black character marks and red chop mark at lower left of image. Purchased in 1965 from Takashimaya Co. Ltd., Japan, and accompanied with original paperwork and wooden container. Scroll – 46" L x 26 5/8" sheet and 28 3/4" W lower dowel. Box – 3 1/4" sq. x 30" L. Japan, mid/late 19th century. CONDITION: Overall good condition. Tears and wear near top and base, outside of image. Largest tear, 4 inches, right edge near base. Scattered water spots and loss of decoration in border area. Three to four areas of spotting at right side of image.
