Three (3) Chinese paintings. 1st item: Ancestral portrait, watercolor and gouache painting on silk with gilt accents, depicting an older woman in a brightly colored red dragon-decorated robe, seated on a wooden armchair against a neutral background. Housed in a giltwood bamboo frame under glass. Sight: 57" H x 33" W. Framed: 59" H x 35" W. Qing dynasty period. 2nd-3rd items: Two (2) Chinese vertical watercolor on silk landscape paintings depicting architectural structures, trees, and monumental rock formations in the background. Painted Chinese characters and red seals to upper corners. Both housed in contemporary giltwood frames and matted with silk brocade. Sights: 7" W x 19" H. Framed: 11" W x 25" H. Both early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Nashville, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: 1st item: Water damage with associated loss and creasing to lower margin. Some areas of creasing, tears, and loss – many with old restoration, especially along the upper edge. Some overall toning, damp staining, scattered foxing spots, and minor scattered holes. 2nd-3rd items: Overall waviness to paper and toning. Slight staining to mats, otherwise in very good condition.
