2 CDV Albums depicting members of the Tennessee State Legislature, 1875-1876. 1st item: Leather bound CDV Photo Album titled Members of the House of Representatives, 39th General Assembly, State of Tennessee, Session 1875-76. Most if not all of the photographs were taken by Carl C. Giers, who also served in the state House during the 39th General Assembly. Giers is pictured on the first page, along with Governor James Porter, and 78 other lawmakers (Giers is pictured twice, making 81 CDVs total). Album – 9 1/2" x 7 5/8". 2nd item: Leather bound CDV Photo Album titled Members of the Senate, 39th General Assembly, State of Tennessee, Session 1875-76. Most if not all of the photographs were taken by Giers. Giers is pictured on the first page, along with Governor James Porter, and 29 other lawmakers (31 CDVs total). Album – 7" x 8 1/2". Provenance: the estate of Giers descendant Sarah Hunter Hicks Green, formerly of Historic Devon Farm, Nashville, Tennessee. CONDITION: Both albums with wear and scuffs to exterior but binding remains in good condition; interior pages and images in overall good condition with some toning and scattered foxing.
